India Post MMS Chennai Recruitment 2026: 24 Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) Vacancies

The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications has issued an official recruitment notification (Advt. No. MSE/B9/XVI/2022-2023) for 24 Staff Car Driver (Ordinary Grade) positions under the Mail Motor Service (MMS), Chennai (Tamil Nadu Circle).

This Central Government job opportunity requires a 10th Class pass (SSLC) along with valid LMV and HMV driving licences and a minimum of 3 years of driving experience. Selection will be conducted through a Theory Test & Practical Driving Test. 🎓 Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational & Technical Qualifications:

• Education: Pass in 10th Standard (SSLC) from a recognized Board or Institute.
• Driving Licence: Possession of a valid Driving Licence for both Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) and Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV).
• Driving Experience: Minimum 3 Years of driving experience in both Light and Heavy Motor Vehicles. (Experience certificate must clearly state separate experience periods for LMV & HMV with full address/seal of employer).
• Motor Mechanism: Basic knowledge of Motor Mechanism (ability to diagnose and rectify minor mechanical vehicle defects).
• Desirable: 3 years of service as a Home Guard or Civil Volunteer.

2. Age Limit (as of 30.11.2026):

• General (UR) / EWS: 18 to 27 Years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 18 to 30 Years (3 Years Relaxation)
• SC / ST Candidates: 18 to 32 Years (5 Years Relaxation)
• Government Servants: Up to 40 Years
• Ex-Servicemen: Military service rendered + 3 years (up to maximum limits as per Govt rules).

🎯 Selection Process

1. Stage I – Written / Theory Test (80 Marks, 90 Minutes):
   • Objective test covering General Knowledge, Simple Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Motor Mechanism, Traffic Rules, Signals, and Regulations.
2. Stage II – Practical Driving & Motor Mechanism Test (20 Marks):
   • Evaluation of practical driving skills on Heavy Vehicles and demonstration of removing minor mechanical defects.
3. Final Merit List: Prepared based on total marks obtained in Stage I and Stage II combined.

• Go to any computerized Post Office across India.

• Pay ₹100 and obtain the original Postal e-Payment Receipt.
• Paste the original receipt onto the designated box on the application form.

9. Two passport-size photographs (one pasted on the form and self-attested, another enclosed).
