What Does a Procurement Role at TCS Involve?
As a Procurement Associate at TCS Chennai, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods and services. Your responsibilities will span the entire procurement lifecycle, requiring a blend of technical skills, strong communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Requisition & PO Management: Receipt and verification of purchase requisitions, master data requests, and meticulous preparation, issuance, change, and follow-up of purchase orders with suppliers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery.
- Master Data Maintenance: Creating, amending, deleting, and maintaining crucial Vendor, Customer, and Pricing master data within ERP systems.
- Query Resolution: Acting as a primary point of contact to resolve queries from both internal requesters, external suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Coordination & Follow-up: Coordinating with buyers, end-users, and support vendors for account inquiries, changes, payment advice, and order/delivery status. Proactive follow-ups on missing information, PO acknowledgments, and pending delivery issues.
- Issue Escalation & Reporting: Timely escalation of delivery delays or failures, policy/procedure non-compliance, and other issues to relevant stakeholders. Generating reports as needed.
- Invoice Processing: Performing vendor invoice verification, processing, and tracking for end-user support services.
- SLA Adherence: Consistently maintaining quality, accuracy, and Turnaround Time (TAT) as per Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Who Are We Looking For?
TCS is looking for candidates who are not only skilled in procurement but also embody strong soft skills crucial for collaboration and effective execution.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 1 to 5 years in Procurement.
- Education: Minimum 15 years of regular, full-time education (10 + 2 + 3).
- Procurement Knowledge: Good understanding of Sourcing / Procurement processes.
- Supplier/Customer Relations: Experience dealing with domestic and international suppliers/customers.
- Technical Tools:
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Exposure to ERP systems (More4Apps, Oracle, SAP / Ariba / Service Now preferred).
- Shift Flexibility: Must be flexible with night shifts & rotational shifts.
Essential Soft Skills:
- Communication: Excellent Spoken & Written English Communication Skills.
- Collaboration: Strong ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Robust analytical capabilities for problem-solving.
- Result Orientation: A strong drive to achieve objectives and deliver results.
