Job Overview
As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining Zoho’s global cloud infrastructure, ensuring high performance, reliability, and availability across all environments. The role demands strong technical skills, hands-on Linux administration experience, and the ability to work efficiently in a 24×7 operational setup.
Key Responsibilities
1. Linux & Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Manage Linux operating systems across production environments.
- Work with core cloud infrastructure components such as virtualization platforms, load balancers, and storage systems.
2. Data Center Operations
- Support the lifecycle management of servers, storage, and related hardware in Zoho’s global data centers.
- Ensure smooth operations and timely maintenance.
3. Monitoring & Incident Management
- Monitor servers and applications in a 24×7 rotational shift.
- Perform root cause analyses (RCA) and implement preventive actions to avoid recurring issues.
4. Server Configuration & Provisioning
- Perform automated Linux OS provisioning for large-scale deployments.
- Use industry-standard configuration and installation tools.
5. Infrastructure Component Management
- Manage core components: DNS, DHCP, NTP, Proxy, OS image repositories, and load balancers.
6. Disaster Recovery Validation
- Conduct periodic testing and validation of Disaster Recovery (DR) centers across multiple global locations.
7. Automation & Tools
- Work with open-source automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible for configuration and package management.
8. Scripting & Development
- Write and maintain automation scripts using Shell and Python to streamline repetitive tasks.
9. Networking Fundamentals
- Apply core networking concepts like VLAN, NAT, ARP, firewalls, and basic switch configuration.
10. Database & SaaS Ecosystem
- Understand the basics of RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Hadoop, and other SaaS infrastructure components.
11. Hardware Knowledge
- Familiarity with physical server architecture, CPU types, and storage hardware.
12. Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with network, DevOps, framework, and application teams to ensure smooth infrastructure operations.
13. Work Management
- Handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision, maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
14. Continuous Learning
- Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies, system internals, hardware advancements, and infrastructure tools.
