There is no written examination. Selection will be made directly through an automated Merit List based on 10th-standard marks.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualifications

  • 10th Standard (SSLC/Secondary School) Pass from a recognized board.
  • Must have studied Mathematics and English as compulsory/elective subjects.
  • Must have studied the Local Language of the selected postal circle up to 10th standard.
  • Desirable Skills: Basic computer knowledge, cycling ability, and secondary source of livelihood.

2. Age Limit (as of cut-off date)

  • Minimum Age: 18 Years
  • Maximum Age: 40 Years

Age Relaxation

  • SC / ST: 5 Years
  • OBC: 3 Years
  • PwBD (General / EWS): 10 Years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 Years
  • PwBD (SC / ST): 15 Years
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per Government rules

Application Fee

  • General / OBC / EWS (Male candidates): ₹100/-
  • Female, SC, ST, PwBD, Trans-women candidates: ₹0 (Exempted)

Selection Process

  1. Merit List Generation: System-generated merit list based on 10th-standard percentage/marks.
  2. Document Verification (DV): Verification of original mark sheets and certificates by the respective Postal Circle.

Step-by-Step Online Application Guide

  1. Visit the official GDS portal: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.
  2. Stage 1 – Registration: Register your basic details and verify your mobile number and email ID via OTP.
  3. Enter your details exactly as shown on your 10th marksheet and upload scanned copies of your photograph (<50 KB) and signature (<20 KB).
  4. Stage 2 – Apply Online: Select your Postal Circle, Division, and fill in your Post Preferences.
  5. Pay the application fee of ₹100 (if applicable).
  6. Submit the final application form and download/print a copy for future reference.
