Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading public sector bank headquartered in Chennai, has officially released the recruitment notification (Advt No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27) for 250 Local Bank Officer (LBO) vacancies in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I).

Eligibility Criteria (As of August 1, 2026)
1. Educational Qualification
Degree: Graduation (Bachelor’s Degree) in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
Local Language Requirement: Candidates must be proficient (read, write, speak, and understand) in the local language of the state applied for.
2. Age Limit (As of August 1, 2026)
Minimum Age: 20 Years
Maximum Age: 30 Years
Upper Age Relaxation:
SC / ST Candidates: 5 Years
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
PwBD (General / EWS): 10 Years
PwBD (OBC): 13 Years
PwBD (SC / ST): 15 Years

Pay Scale & Allowances
Selected candidates will be placed in Scale-I Officer cadre:
Benefits: In addition to basic pay, officers are eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) / Leased Accommodation, City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Medical Aid, and other perks as per Bank rules.
All Other Candidates (General/OBC/EWS): ₹850/- (Application fee + Intimation charges)
Selection Process
The selection process for IOB Local Bank Officer consists of three stages:
Online Written Examination: Objective test assessing Reasoning, Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation.
Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates who haven’t studied the state’s local language in 10th or 12th standard must pass the language test.
Personal Interview: Conducted for shortlisted candidates clearing the online exam.
