The Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) is inviting online applications for the prestigious Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS). This initiative aims to support higher professional education for the dependent wards and widows of deceased or ex-service personnel of the Armed Forces and Coast Guard.

With 5,500 total scholarships awarded each academic year, this scheme offers substantial financial backing to help students pursue their dream careers without financial stress.

Scholarship Overview: PMSS 2026

  • Total Scholarships: 5,500 slots (divided equally: 2,750 for Boys and 2,750 for Girls)

Financial Benefits

The scholarship is paid annually via ECS directly into the student’s bank account for the approved duration of the course (ranging from 2 to 5 years):

  • For Girls: ₹3,000 per month (₹36,000 per year)
  • For Boys: ₹2,500 per month (₹30,000 per year)

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the PMSS new application, candidates must meet the following strict conditions:

  • Academic Year: Must be a student admitted to the 1st year of a professional degree course in the current financial year (Lateral entry students are not eligible).
  • Minimum Marks: Must have scored 60% or above in the Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ)—whether it is 10+2, a Diploma, or Graduation. Note: Percentage calculation includes all subjects, including optional ones.
  • Eligible Courses: First Professional Degree Courses (e.g., B.E., B.Tech, MBBS, BDS, B.Ed, BBA, BCA, B.Pharma, BA.LLB).
  • Postgraduate Exception: Master’s degree courses are excluded, except for MBA and MCA.
  • Exclusions: Wards of civilians and Para-Military personnel are not eligible. Distance learning, vocational courses, and studying abroad are strictly prohibited under this scheme.

Crucial Rules for Continuation (Renewal)

Once selected, keeping the scholarship requires strict academic performance:

  • Students must maintain at least 50% marks in each subsequent semester or academic year.
  • Passing every single subject in the FIRST ATTEMPT is mandatory. If a student fails or gets a Re-Appearance (RA) in any subject, the scholarship will be closed forever.

Follow these step-by-step instructions to register on the KSB portal:

1.Download Annexures:Step 1.

Visit the official KSB website (www.online.ksb.gov.in), click on the PMSS link, and download Annexures 1, 2, and 3. Complete these forms exactly as formatted.

2.Register on Portal:Step 2.

Click “Apply Online”, upload a passport-size photograph, and fill out Part-1 and Part-2 with your Ex-Servicemen (ESM) details. Submit to generate your login credentials.

3.Activate Account:Step 3.

Check the student’s registered email for an automatic activation link. Click it to activate your portal access, then log into your new dashboard.

4.Fill and Submit Application:Step 4.

Click on “New Application” and choose the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme. Fill out Parts 1, 2, and 3, upload clear scans of your original documents, and click “Save and Forward” to send it to your Zila Sainik Board (ZSB).

⚠️ Important Reminder: If your dashboard status shows ‘New’, your application has not been submitted yet! You must open it and click ‘Save and Forward’. Always ensure any query or observation raised by the board is rectified within 10 days to avoid automatic system rejection.
